After more than fifteen years, C&A will stop selling clothing through large online stores. This means that the cooperation with Amazon, Wehkamp and Zalando will end. C&A wants to focus again on growing its own channels for online sales.
C&A first partnered with this third-party digital marketplace in 2008. At first it was just Wehkamp. Amazon and Zalando added in 2022.
The idea was to attract new customers through large online stores who would then also go to hundreds of C&A stores to shop. But in practice it turns out differently. According to the C&A, the comprehensive evaluation showed that the results in this area are “unsatisfactory.”
The partnerships generated additional income, but projected margins were somewhat disappointing. According to the clothing store chain, discussions are still ongoing with Amazon, Zalando and Wecamp about a “controlled closure.”
