BOVAG and the unions today reached a new agreement for the MvT collective labor agreement. This is what unions now offer to their members. The essence of the negotiation agreement: a 6 percent wage increase retroactive to January 1, 2024, an increase of €90 (instead of €80) on August 1, 2024 (instead of October 1) and a 1.5 percent increase on January 1, 2025. The duration of the collective labor agreement will be 15 months, that is, until February 1, 2025. Considering the entire period, this means an average wage increase of 10.5 percent.

BOVAG members have given the indication that they want clarity for their employees, especially due to the expected wage increase on January 1, 2024. Employers are giving their employees this increase, they want peace to return and clarity is needed quickly. For this reason, BOVAG invited the trade unions to a formal round of negotiations, which resulted in a new negotiating agreement. The expanded version of that agreement can be found here.

    Colony

It is important to know that BOVAG and the trade unions have agreed that employers who have already introduced a collective wage increase on their own initiative from 1 January 2024, as an introduction to the new collective labor agreement, can settle this matter retrospectively upon application of the new collective labor agreement.

    positive

The parties agreed that the unions would present this negotiation outcome favorably to their supporters. Union members can vote on the proposal within the next two weeks. At BOVAG, the Members Council has the final say.

    clarity

It is very important that both departments now agree to the proposal. The agreement can then be finalized and clarity will be quickly provided to all employees in the sector and their portfolios. A clear diagram has been created to clearly explain to employees exactly what the negotiation agreement entails. BOVAG entrepreneurs can distribute this chart among employees. It is good to stress the importance of the vote of union members, especially those who feel good about the proposal.
