The 36-year-old Djokovic is still hungry for new victories in 2024 and hopes to win the Olympic gold medal in Paris next summer. He won his only Olympic medal in 2008 in Beijing (bronze). He also wants to increase his number of Grand Slam victories. He is currently 24 years old.

The United Cup tournament is the Serb's preparation for the Australian Open, which starts on January 15. Eighteen countries will compete for the title over eleven days. Perth and Sydney each receive three groups, each from three countries. The group winners and best runners-up from each city advance to the quarter-finals. Each match includes a men's singles match, a women's singles match, and a mixed doubles match.

Serbia, which includes Olga Danilović (119th WTA Championship) alongside Djokovic, will meet China and the Czech Republic in Group E in Perth. In the quarter-finals, a confrontation may await us with the defending champion, the United States, which is divided into a strong third group with Great Britain and Australia. The United States is represented by Taylor Fritz (ATP 10) and Jessica Pegula (WTA 5). Group A matches with Poland, led by Iga Swiatek, as well as Spain and Brazil, will be held in Perth.

Angelique Kerber celebrates her return to the tennis circuit at the United Cup. The 35-year-old German and former world number one has become a mother and has not played a match since July 2022. Germany will meet France and Italy in Group D in Sydney. Group II (Greece, Canada, Chile) and Group VI (Croatia, Netherlands, Norway) also have their headquarters in Sydney.
