Ireland and parts of the UK will see Storm Debbie on Monday. The British and Irish Meteorological Service warned of heavy rain and wind gusts of up to 128 kilometers per hour on the coast.
Debbie is the fourth storm of the season and has developed over Ireland. On Sunday morning, the Irish weather service Met Éireann named Storm Debbie. Debbie strengthened over the night before Monday: parts of Ireland have been under a red weather warning since Sunday evening, the highest level.
According to Met Éireann, there is a risk of localized flooding, dangerous driving conditions and fallen trees. In some areas, rain may reach 40 mm within six hours. About 58,000 homes and businesses were without power in Ireland. Police warned people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. Schools have been closed in areas subject to a red weather warning and flights to and from Dublin have been cancelled.

Deby arrives in northern England and Wales on Monday morning. Orange weather warnings are in effect for south-east Northern Ireland and north-west England due to strong winds. The yellow warning is in effect for the rest of Northern Ireland, northern England and parts of Wales.

The British Meteorological Office warns of wind gusts ranging between 96 and 104 kilometers per hour inside the country, and up to 120 kilometers per hour on the coast. Winds can cause flying debris and high waves. Heavy rains can also lead to life-threatening flooding.
A weather warning for rain has also been issued for parts of north-east Scotland. Last month, this area was hit by Storm Babbitt, which flooded nearly six hundred homes. Storm Ciaran recently caused flooding, power outages and travel problems in southern England, among other places. The Met Office expects Storm Debbie to enter the North Sea on Monday evening.
