Storm Agnes caused quite a few problems in the UK. Several places witnessed flooding as a result of heavy rains. In Londonderry, Northern Ireland, a woman was rescued from her car after she got stuck in the high tide caused by the storm.

On Wednesday, the storm was accompanied by strong winds. In Wales, wind gusts of up to 127 kilometers per hour were measured in the village of Capel Corrig in the evening. In other places, wind speeds reached more than 100 kilometers per hour. Hundreds of people in Devon and Cornwall, among other towns, were left without power as a result of the storm.

Agnes also caused problems elsewhere. For example, buildings were damaged and traffic was disrupted in Ireland and Northern Ireland due to trees falling on the road. Ferry services and some flights were also affected due to the weather.

Agnes is the first named storm of the season. A number of flood warnings remain in force in parts of Scotland on Thursday. But the Met Office has now withdrawn the code yellow for high winds in most parts of the country.
