DrThe municipality of Allschwil in the northwestern Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft made history last week by opening the first legal cannabis store in Europe. Grashaus Enterprises is launching a pilot project to provide controlled cannabis for recreational use that will enable up to 3,950 study participants to purchase a variety of THC-containing cannabis products, from dried cannabis to edibles, under the supervision of trained staff.

Quality, variety and information at Grasshaus

On a sales area of approximately 110 square meters, Grashaus offers a wide range of THC-containing cannabis products that meet the quality requirements of BetmPV and organic regulations.

In addition to cannabis, extracts, e-liquids, hash and edibles are also available. The store also stocks merchandise and accessories from world-famous brands.

Workshops, information meetings and cultural events on the topic of cannabis are also scheduled.

Controlled operations from cultivation to sales

Grashaus Projects is working with Swiss traceability company Cannavigia on the study to ensure seamless transparency from production to product purchase. Cannavigia ensures quality and compliance standards along the entire value chain.

The ongoing study, led by Professor Dr. Michael Schwab, examines the regulated sale of cannabis for non-medical purposes and analyzes the social consequences for safety and public order.

The pilot project was approved in May this year

Trials have previously been approved in Lausanne, Basel, Zurich and Geneva.

In Basel, they have now started selling Swiss-grown cannabis, in August in Zurich. While in Lausanne, they have begun recording and Geneva is scheduled to follow in December.

Registration has just begun in Bern, Biel and Lucerne.
