Travel: Switzerland as a winter wonderland! – Moto Plus

Motorcycling and snow are usually not a good combination. However, things go better than expected, and it can be quite beautiful, as we witnessed during our trip through snow-covered Switzerland! Ride a motorcycle in a winter wonderland!

We’re not alone on the road, but we’re the only ones on two wheels. An endless line of cars, SUVs, trucks and jeeps surround us. All with skis on the roof, and an interior fully loaded with survival gear for a winter sports holiday in Davos or Sankt Moritz. Our survival gear is much more basic: it only includes heated handles, which have been on the grill setup since Tiefencastel and keep our fingers nice and warm. However, Diana, who is driving the car in front of me, seems a little nervous. Could it be a cold?

Well, the onboard computer is currently showing three degrees below zero, and despite the clear sun in the sky, that of course doesn’t provide the best Caribbean feeling. But that’s not all, as I also noticed. The slight discomfort is not due to the temperature, it is something else. It’s this extraordinary journey through a tunnel of snow and ice. It does look unnatural in a car, but even more so on two wheels. The bends, which invite you to maintain a gentle sporting pace on a summer day, are completely hidden from view by the white walls. In addition, meltwater runs over asphalt that has been bleached by sun and brine, especially on the many bends.
