The Netherlands debuted in the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and is the only country to have participated in every edition to date. So far the country has won the competition only once. Their only victory came in 2009 when Ralph Mackenbach performed “Click Clack” scoring a total of 121 points, which was only five more than runners-up Armenia and Russia. The Netherlands narrowly lost the competition in 2011 when Rachel performed “Teenager” and lost by 5 points. The Netherlands’ worst result came in 2021 when Ayana finished 19th out of 19 competing countries.
