Thousands of people participated in a pro-Palestinian demonstration in The Hague on Sunday afternoon. Police estimate there were 6,000 demonstrators. People also took to the streets in Venlo and Amsterdam. In Venlo, there was also a pro-Palestinian demonstration. In Amsterdam, the peace march began at 4:00 pm from Dam Square to the Museum. Silent marches for peace were also organized in the Palestinian areas in Eindhoven on Sunday evening.

In The Hog, demonstrators protested to demand a ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Police said the protest, organized by the Palestinian Emergency Committee, was calm.

According to Amrup Finlo, about a hundred people gathered in Limburg on Sunday afternoon. The demonstrators marched through the city center carrying Palestinian flags, among other things.

The Amsterdam peace march was organized by a group of women who said they were “deeply affected” by “the situation in the Middle East,” according to the group’s website. Through the peace march, they wanted to send a message that they are against dehumanization “anywhere.” Parul stated that Dam Square was “crowded” just before the march began. According to the newspaper, municipal council member Marjolein Moormann, among others, participated.

The Foreign Ministry restores contact with the Dutch in the Gaza Strip

The Foreign Ministry restored contact with most of the Dutch in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, after being unable to reach them on Saturday. According to a ministry spokesman, communication to and from Gaza appears to be improving.

The Ministry will continue its attempts to establish contact with the rest of the Dutch in Gaza in the coming days. The spokesman stated that the ministry will inform residents of Gaza about the options for leaving the area as soon as information is available. “Unfortunately, this is not the case at the moment. But the Netherlands continues to put pressure on the parties involved.”

Earlier this week, the ministry had daily contact with 23 people holding a Dutch passport, residence papers or immediate family members. On Saturday, the Dutch representative in Ramallah tried to contact them, but was unable to do so. The Israeli army expanded its ground operations in the Palestinian territories on Friday evening.
