Strong increase
NS International sees a very strong increase in ticket sales to and from Munich during Oktoberfest. “We see the destination as being very popular and really special,” says a company spokesperson. According to her, it is “very likely” that the popularity is linked to Oktoberfest.
In addition, many Dutch people plan to go to Oktoberfest by FlixBus. A spokesman for the bus operator speaks of a “significant” increase in ticket sales. This concerns an additional 1,000 passengers between the Netherlands and Munich, although Flixbus cannot say with certainty whether they will all go to the festival. According to her, more passengers fly to Munich from Eindhoven, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. It is about 15 to 17 percent.
Last minute
On Oktoberfest.nl, partygoers can book a complete travel package to Munich. Director John Szot reports that between 1,000 and 2,000 people have done it with him this year. It’s not fully booked yet, but he expects it will be. “In recent weeks, there have always been people calling at the last minute.”
According to him, the number of bookings has remained the same in recent years. People ask for a quote often. “People sometimes decide to stay in the Netherlands because accommodation in Munich is very expensive,” Zott said. Therefore, young people in particular drop out of school.
Beer festivals are here too
Because of inflation, visitors are paying on average 6 percent more for beer than last year. Beer prices now range between 12.60 and 14.90 euros per litre. There is free water.
