The NFL has confirmed the departure of national team coach Vlatko Andonovski. The New York Times reported on Wednesday, based on anonymous sources, that the 46-year-old Andonovsky resigned after four years as national coach, following disappointing World Cups in Australia and New Zealand.
The American women had already been eliminated by Sweden in their eighth finals on penalties, after winning the previous two World Cups led by Jill Ellis. It meant the worst result ever for “Team USA” in the Women’s World Cup.
Andonovski’s team finished second in the group behind Orange. The duel ended with a score of 1-1. Four years ago, at the World Cup in France, American soccer players beat the Netherlands 2-0 in the final.
Wegman
The American Federation is looking for a successor to Andonovsky. Presently, Twila Kilgore has been appointed as the interim national coach. I worked as an assistant for the national team for a year and a half.
In any case, the Americans do not have to knock on the door of Sarina Wiegman, coach of the Dutch national team for England. “We see a lot of rumours, but they stay with us until 2025,” England director Mark Bullingham told the BBC. “We will 100 percent reject every offer.
