This Netflix disaster movie was a huge disappointment: not worth starting

This Netflix disaster movie was a huge disappointment: not worth starting

Michael McCann, August 16, 2023

Netflix is now filled with countless movies and original series. Netflix original movies are sometimes well received and often well watched, but usually the quality isn’t top notch. A good example of this is the disaster movie How It Ends.

A disaster movie with a tight cast of Theo James, Forest Whitaker and Kat Graham could have turned out well, but… how it ends Missed the mark terribly.

story
Will Young and Samantha Rotterland are future parents and are planning to get married. However, Will first wants to get the win from his estranged father-in-law, Tom. For this he travels to Chicago, while Samantha is staying in Seattle.

While visiting Tom, all of the electrical grids in the United States suddenly fail. Earthquakes followed, as well as numerous fires. The mysterious apocalypse has begun. Will has no idea what’s going on, but he knows one thing for sure: he must return to Seattle, to his pregnant wife who lives alone.

Badly received
The movie came out on Netflix in 2018. The movie has been in the works since 2011, which makes the end result even more complicated. The film received mostly poor reviews. The film has a Dramatic rating of 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.

This means that only this part of the reviews was positive, while the other 83% thought so how it ends Just bad for all kinds of reasons.

end
The dialogues, the directing, and the clichéd premise are all elements that make the film not of high quality. But when the movie came out, viewers were particularly upset about one particular part of the movie: the ending.

The movie doesn’t have a real ending, at least not one that people were satisfied with or closed the story on efficiently. Ironically, given the title, the movie ends literally in the middle of an escape scene.
