France is the last country to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup. Hervé Renard’s team was very strong against Morocco 4-0 in the last match of the eighth final. Host country Australia is the opponent in the next round.
Within half an hour, France already had three against the Moroccan players. Fifteen minutes later, Kedidiatou Diagne opened the scoring with a powerful header from Sakina Kerchaoui’s pass. Diani turned out to be an irrepressible factor in this match anyway, as she was also involved in the second goal. The striker swiveled wide deep, pulled the ball back and Kenza Daly volleyed just inside the post with a low down.
With the third goal, France received some help from Moroccan defender Nisrine El Chad, who shot past Diagne on the back line. As a result, the ball ended up at the feet of Eugénie Le Sommer, who convincingly scored 3-0. With twenty minutes left, Le Sommer was also responsible for the fourth goal by nodding the cross high at the far post.
On Saturday, August 12th at 9 am NST, France will face Australia in the quarter-finals. Potential semi-final against winner from England vs Colombia.
