For the second time in a row, orange indoor hockey players won a bronze medal at the European Championships. They crushed their opponent Switzerland 10-3 in Hamburg. The day before, both countries faced each other, but the group match ended 5-5.

After the opening goal on a short corner by Boris Burckhardt in the game for third place, the Netherlands national team followed with four more. A penalty kick to Switzerland before the end of the first half was not awarded after consultation between the referees, to the Swiss disbelief.

With a four-goal lead, the Orange started the second part of the match confidently. But it turned out to be hard work. After the break, Switzerland retaliated and quickly scored the second goal.

The success turned out to be short-lived, however, as Holland brought the score to 9-2 in the third quarter.

Watch 8-2 here with a great pass from Jasper Tucker right in front of the goalkeeper.

Immediately after the start of the fourth quarter, the Swiss national coach removed the guard and replaced him with an additional field player. From then on they scored the third goal from a penalty kick.

No more goalkeepers

After that goal, national coach Robert Tiegges brought in his goalkeeper, Heide Brink, along with an additional player. Both teams played without a goalkeeper.

Packer tied the final score with a score of 10-3, and the Orange took home a fifth bronze medal in history.
