The Greek Track breaks up with Coach Slaughter after successful years: ‘We weren’t on the same page’ | Tennis

Brian Rodriguez, December 6, 2022

Tallon Grepes immediately terminated cooperation with trainer Raemon Sluiter. The Netherlands’ second player and coach were no longer on the same page shortly before the start of the season.

“I had a great time with Raimon,” says the 26-year-old Greek clipper on the podcast. table tennis. “We’ve been working together for almost two years and have achieved great things. Now it’s time for a new challenge.”

Sluiter was the coach of the Greek track for about two years, during which time he played in the top 100 of the ATP rankings. The number 96 in the world indicates that he and the coach did not always agree on the way to play.

According to Greekspoor, the decision does not come from him alone. “I think we both had this in mind. We had a good talk a week and a half ago about next year and how we wanted to go about it.”

“Unfortunately, it took a little longer than planned. After one week of training, we decided to finish it, because there are too many differences of opinion. We think very differently about certain things.”

The timing of the break is not ideal, as the Greek track is currently preparing for the start of the season. In addition to Sluiter, the Greek track also works with trainer Dennis Schenk. He flew in for training.

“The planning was for Raimon to come to Australia,” says Grape. “That is no longer the case.” “We’ll see how far Dennis can keep up and we’ll look at a new coach. He provides food for thought in the coming days. I don’t know myself yet.”

The new tennis season begins in Australia in January. The first Grand Slam tournament is traditionally the Australian Open, which starts on January 17th.
