After making his debut during the match between Germany and Japan, Zachary Ziglar will play for the second time in the Qatar World Cup. The Surinamese referee will act as second assistant referee during Brazil vs. Switzerland. The Group G match will be held on Monday at Stadium 974 in Doha, and will start at 1 pm.
Brazil – Switzerland is the third match of the day. Earlier today, Cameroon, Serbia, South Korea and Ghana are scheduled, respectively. In the last match on Monday, Portugal and Uruguay will play against each other. FIFA announced the names of the referees for Monday’s matches this afternoon.
Zeegelaar is part of a quartet of arbitrators, with the remainder made up of officials from El Salvador. Evan Barton is the main referee, while compatriots David Moran and Said Martinez are the first assistant referee and fourth official, respectively.
Ziglar performed well in the Germany-Japan match that was held at Khalifa International Stadium in Doha on Wednesday. It came into effect very early when he rightly ruled out a goal from Japan’s Daisen Maeda for offside in the eighth minute.
Germany scored the first valid goal of the match almost half an hour later from the penalty spot, but Japan eventually saw a shock 2-1 victory. Also in this game, Barton, Moran, and Martinez were Zieglar’s teammates.
