EF Education-EasyPost has added a talented driver of choice with the arrival of Stephane de Bode. The 25-year-old South African came from Astana, where he played for two years.
De Bod is known as an expert in time, but that is not the specialty he wants to excel in for the next two years (his new contract term, editor). “I’ve had a bit of a hard time figuring out what kind of driver I’m with in recent years, despite some good results. Now I’m starting to figure that out little by little.
“I think I can develop into a good breakaway rider,” he said. “Plus, I see myself as a great driver for the racing classifications for one week, which is my long-term ambition. I first want to go on detachment, and develop from there into races like the Tour de Romandie, Tirreno-Adriatico, Tour of Switzerland and Critérium du Dauphiné. These matches should suit me.
