Team leaders Haas and Williams: No more racing in Formula 1

Team leaders Haas and Williams: No more racing in Formula 1

Formula 1 should only slow down after a period of rapid growth and resist the temptation to add more races to the calendar. “We need to be stable or else we risk hitting a cliff and falling off a cliff,” said team principal Guenter Steiner of the Haas Formula One team. “24 races are enough for me at the moment.”

Steiner receives support from Williams boss Joost Capito. “I think 24 races is a lot for the teams,” Capito said. “We have 22 races this year and indeed you can see that the teams are tired. They are looking forward to the end of the season.”

Formula 1 is more popular than ever. Interest in the royal category has grown in part due to the popular Netflix series Drive to Survive. Cities line up to organize a Formula 1 race for a lot of money. Next year, Formula 1 will see a record-breaking 24 races, three of which will be in the United States.

“Since Liberty Media took over Formula 1, a lot has changed for the better. But we can’t keep growing. We now have 24 races on the calendar, keep it that way for now. Don’t try to make it 27, because that’s a lot.” We need stability,” Steiner believes.

Capito refers to logistics with 24 races. “It will be complicated, but probably possible. But I think going to 24 is already a very big step,” said the British racing stable team boss.

The two team bosses were in Las Vegas to promote next year’s Grand Prix. There was also Formula 1 coach Stefano Domenicali who doesn’t worry about slowing down growth. The Italian said: “A few years ago, people said that Formula 1 was in decline, so I’m glad it’s not like that anymore. We shouldn’t slow down growth, we should keep going. We should be proud of what we’ve come to.”
