    The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) is donating 30,000 yellow fever vaccines to the Ministry of Health as part of its technical cooperation to member states.

    This donation was made possible by the PAHO’s generous contribution from the United States Government to support the PAHO’s COVID-19 Pandemic Preparedness and Response Plan to provide technical cooperation and work to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Americas region.

    The PAHO makes this donation under its TCP and in accordance with the provisions of the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations Specialized Agencies, adopted on 17 July 1948, and more specifically the Basic Government Agreement for Suriname and Ban. American Health Organization/WHO on Institutional Relations, Privileges and Immunities, signed November 15, 1985.

    Any matter arising out of or relating to this donation will be construed in accordance with the terms of these documents.

    The Department of Health thanks the United States and the Pan American Health Organization for this donation. In the context of strengthening relations, Minister Ammar Ramadan held a meeting with the US delegation during the 30th Health Conference of the Pan American Health Organization in Washington. During this meeting, various possibilities of cooperation were discussed. Follow-up dates were set to discuss options. The US Department of Health has indicated that it wants to support Suriname in various areas within the healthcare sector.
