Tom Bidcock fits into the Cycling World Championships in Australia: ‘I can’t ship mine again’

    Sunday 4 September 2022 at 20:30

Tom Bidcock will not be taking part in the cycling world championships in Australia. Britain’s Enos Grenadiers made the news after the first stage of the Tour of Britain, with Pidcock finishing fifth. “I want to be more selective in the races I run.”

in conversation with News Bidcock indicated that he would not be able to appear 100% at first. “Mentally I wouldn’t be able to recharge myself for such a big game. It’s all in Australia. Earlier this month I was dreaming of winning the MTB world title, but it didn’t happen. Then I lost a bit.”

In recent months, the news has already become known that many toppers will not be attending the cycling world championships in Wollongong, Australia. For example, Mads Pedersen and Jonas Weinggaard will not play for Denmark and Alejandro Valverde should not be allowed to go to Australia from Movistar. Caleb Ewan (Australia), Fabio Jacobsen (Netherlands) and Dylan Tunes (Belgium) are not in their country of choice. Don’t look for Irish jockeys in Wollongong either, because Ireland won’t send jockeys to the 2022 World Cup, which begins a week after the Vuelta.

Favorite in the final victory round in Britain
“I’ve had a tough week,” Bidcock frankly continues. I had prepared well, but everything seemed to be going well.” After the disappointment of the MTB World Cup, the young rider was able to start the Tour of Britain. In the first stage, Bidcock only advanced in the last kilometres, after which he sprinted to fifth. “I had to pee. You might be a little relaxed. I should have been in a hurry (Friel, editor), and then I might have won.”

Bidcock is one of the favorites to win the overall Tour of Britain. The winner of the final stage of the Tour de France makes no secret of his ambition. “I think I can win the race, but we have several cards to play,” the Briton points to retired Ritchie Porte and young American Magnus Sheffield.

    About cyclocross season
Finally, the cyclocross world champion also received a question about the upcoming cyclocross season. However, Pidcock is not yet sure what his plans are. “I want to be able to prepare well for the classics in the spring. I don’t want to do the whole motocross season and then do the road and the Tour and then the World Cup. That’s a lot of good stuff. I want to be more selective,” Bidcock concluded.
