San Diego naval ship fire injures 17 sailors and 4 civilians.

“Seventeen Sailors and 4 civilians are being dealt with for non-lifetime threatening injuries at a regional healthcare facility,” the US Navy said in a statement.

The sailors on the USS Bonhomme Richard experienced “minimal injuries” from the fireplace and were taken to a clinic, Lt. Cmdr. Patricia Kreuzberger instructed CNN earlier Sunday.

All of the crew is off the ship and accounted for, according to a tweet from the US Pacific Fleet Naval Floor Forces Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters battled a a few-alarm fire on the ship Sunday morning, SDFD’s Mónica Muñoz stated. Many distinctive businesses worked to combat the blaze.

Two fires crews ended up however on board the ship Sunday afternoon, Federal Hearth San Diego Division Chief Rob Bondurant claimed in a statement.

“Federal Fireplace is rotating their crews aboard the ship with U.S. Navy firefighting crews from the waterfront to combat the hearth in purchase to come across the seat of the hearth and extinguish it,” Bondurant explained. “Navy Region Southwest tugs are also continually combating the hearth from the bay.”
