Since 2019, five cyclists have shot the world record for the watch. They all got it wrong, with her last competitor being Alex Dowsett in 2021. Bigham, a part-time rider also associated with the Ineos Grenadiers as an aerodynamics specialist, has now succeeded. After his mighty efforts, the 30-year-old knight fell to the ground before being congratulated by his family and friends who were on the right track to cheer him on.

Bigham had already broken the British watch record of Bradley Wiggins last year with a distance of 54,723 km. This attempt was not valid for the world clock record at the time, as it was not part of the UCI’s anti-doping programme. Today, the day the Vuelta starts in Utrecht, he succeeded. Bigham started off rather quietly, but passed Campayrates a little half an hour later. Half a minute ago, he was already at a record distance, and then added another 489 meters to it.

    Cycling game!
The Vuelta a España starts on Friday, August 19th with Gran Salida In Utrecht with the team experience time. The second and third stages are also held on Dutch soil, after which the peloton descends into Asturias and the Sierra Nevada in the far south of Spain. Join the Vuelta game and win great prizes!
