Queen Elizabeth is to date the second longest-reigning woman ever | Currently

Brian Rodriguez, June 13, 2022

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth is one step closer to breaking the “world record” for the longest-reigning sovereign monarch. On Sunday she will be 70 years old and 126 days old. This puts her on a par with Thailand’s King Bhumibol, who died in 2016.

Elizabeth is now only one name before her. Louis XIV of France ruled from 1643 to 1715 and thus sat on the throne for 72 years and 110 days. The British Queen will equalize this number on May 25, 2024. That’s in 713 days.

Elizabeth, 96, marked her Platinum State Day last weekend with four days of parades, street parties and other events across Britain and the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth used to be the British colonies and the so-called Mandate lands, still symbolically Elizabeth as head of state. In addition to the United Kingdom, Elizabeth is also the Head of State of Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Jamaica.

Queen Wilhelmina was the longest serving Dutch monarch. She sat on the Dutch throne for 57 years and 286 days between 1890 and 1948.

Tallest Sovereign Head of State (as of June 12, 2022)

  • 1. King Louis XIV, France – 72 years, 110 days
  • 2. Queen Elizabeth II, United Kingdom – 70 years, 126 days
  • 2. King Bhumibol, Thailand – 70 years, 126 days
  • 4. Prince Johann II, Liechtenstein – 70 years 91 days
  • 5. Ajao Pakal I, Palenque (Mayan State) – 68 years 33 days
  • 6. Emperor Franz Joseph I, Austria-Hungary – 67 years 355 days
  • 7. King Ferdinand III, Sicily – 65 years, 90 days
  • 8. Queen Victoria, UK – 63 years, 216 days
  • 9. King James I, Aragon – 62 years, 319 days
  • 10. Emperor Showa, Japan – 62 years, 13 days

There is no evidence for its completion

After the festivities that surrounded her birthday, the Queen thanked everyone for the “beautiful messages and for your part in these fun parties”.

According to her, there was no “proof” of her rare teacher. “But I am humbled and deeply moved that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate the platinum anniversary of my Niles,” she wrote.

Because of her fragile health, Elizabeth was unable to attend all the family’s organized festivities. The Queen was unable to move and had to rest after being present on the first day of Trooping the Color, an annual military parade.
