Poland saves players against Orange and may also play without Lewandowski | Currently

Brian Rodriguez, June 11, 2022

Robert Lewandowski may miss Poland’s starting line-up on Saturday for the Nations League match against the Netherlands in De Koep. The Poles will not start with their strongest team anyway, because many players are rested by national coach Czeslaw Micniewicz.

“We are still in talks with Lewandowski,” Michenewicz said Friday at his forward-looking press conference in De Quebec. “We’ll have to check it out.”

The 33-year-old Polish star is tired after a long season with Bayern Munich. “I changed him on Wednesday in Belgium with the goal of dueling with the Netherlands,” said Michenewicz. “But we would also love to have him there when we play Belgium again on Tuesday in front of our own fans.”

It is possible that former Ajax player Arkadiusz Milik, who plays at Olympique de Marseille, and Kamel Josuyak of US club Charlotte, will not appear at the start of the match. Micniewicz also hinted that Benevento captain Kamil Glick also needs to rest, meaning No. 26 in the FIFA rankings would be far from full strength.

Van Gaal doesn’t want to say much about the position

On the other hand, it is likely that Orange will join a strong squad, although national coach Louis van Gaal did not want to talk much about his position on Friday. Van Gaal cannot reach Captain Virgil van Dijk, who is already on vacation.

Vincent Janssen is not part of Van Gaal’s match selection. The striker only joined the Orange squad on Thursday after marrying in the United States on Saturday. He will play Wales on Tuesday.

The Orange team won their squad B 1-2 against Wales last Wednesday, after Belgium had already won 1-4 in their strongest squad. Poland opened the Nations League last week with a home win over second-choice Wales (2-1), after which Mitchiniewicz suffered a tough defeat against Belgium (6-1).

The Netherlands vs Poland match will start on Saturday at 8.45 pm in De Kuip in Rotterdam and will be led by Turkish referee Halil Umut Miller.
