The Brazilian national team booked a training victory over South Korea (1-5) on Thursday, partly due to two goals from Neymar. The Paris Saint-Germain star now needs only four more goals to equal Pele as the top scorer in the history of “A Seleção”.

Thirty-year-old Neymar played 1-2 and 3-3 at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul. Both goals came from a penalty kick.

The 118-time international brought his total goals on behalf of Brazil to 73. Only Pele has scored more than once for the five-time world champion. The 81-year-old football legend was good at 77 strokes in 92 international matches between 1957 and 1971.

Neymar, who made his international debut in 2010, could break or beat Pele’s record at the Qatar World Cup later this year. Brazil will face Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon in the group stage of the World Championships.

National coach Tite’s team stayed in Seoul on Thursday for the 12th consecutive game unbeaten. Everton striker Richarlison opened the scoring in the seventh minute of the friendly match against South Korea, while substitutes Philippe Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus scored the last two goals.

The best scorers in the history of Brazil

    • 1- Pele: 77 goals (92 international matches)
    • 2. Neymar: 73 goals (118 caps)
    • 3- Ronaldo: 62 goals (98 international matches).
    • 4- Romario: 55 goals (70 international matches).
    • 5- Zico: 48 goals (71 international matches)
