The first solar eclipse of 2022 will occur on Saturday, April 30th. Although the big event will not be visible from North America, there are options after watching the event online.
Where will a partial eclipse be visible?
It will be visible from the southeastern Pacific Ocean, Antarctica, and some South American countries such as Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, and Peru.

Unfortunately, this partial eclipse will not be visible in North America or Europe. However, the next partial solar eclipse on October 25, 2022 will be visible from Europe, northeastern Africa, the Middle East, and western Asia, according to NASA.

What is the difference between a solar eclipse and a partial eclipse?
According to NASA’s website, “A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves between the Sun and the Earth, casting a shadow on the Earth and blocking some or all of the Sun’s light in some areas. During a partial eclipse, the Moon and the Sun are not completely aligned, so the Moon does not completely cover the Sun. This It gives the sun a crescent shape, or makes it look as if the “bite” has been removed from the sun, depending on how much of the sun covers the moon.
In this case, about 64% of the Sun’s disk will be erased, according to NASA.
