Doha: Opening One Hundred Days Rahmanullah Qorbaz set Afghanistan on fire with a 48-lap victory over the Netherlands in the second round of an ODI match in Doha on Sunday.
In response to 237 in Afghanistan for six of the 50 sums, the Netherlands came out with only 189 out of 47.4.
The Afghans, who won the first of the three series matches on Friday, scored the first in the second half on slow ground, raising 103 to Gurbaz from 127 balls and 54 from captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, scoring 237 challenges with six goals.
Gurbaz, who turned 20 in November, made six teams and three sixs as he entered the second century of the ODI, making his debut against Ireland in January last year.
Kent’s left arm tailor Fred Claassen (2-51) and 21-year-old Philip Boisvin’s leg opponent (2-39) were two of the most successful Dutch bowlers.
Holland again relied heavily on their opener Scott Edwards in Tonga, who followed him in the 68th game of the opener with a powerful 86-120 shot.
He added 90 for the third wicket with Pas de Led before Farid Ahmed threw it for 34.
Edwards played his third ODI game before falling to Yamin Ahmadzai to leave the Netherlands in the 147th minute for four goals in 39.
This was indeed the end of the Dutch challenge as they lost their last six wickets to 42 again with Mujibur Rahman bowling last player Vivian Kingma to finish 4 to 32.
The series is part of the Super League World Cup, which will determine the qualifiers for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
Afghanistan leads the three-match series with a score of 2-0 with the final ODI match taking place in Doha on Tuesday.
