Now it is known that on December 27, Robert Packer, the music director of The Voice Company, died. He was 64 years old. This reports a spokeswoman for The Voice, which has divisions in Harlem, ‘T Joy, Flevoland and Neckerk.

“He will be remembered as a tremendously musical, friendly, sociable and kind person. Team Voice Company’s Gertje Houen said the Voice family and all regular party visitors will miss him very much.”

Packer founded the choirs himself and accompanied them for twenty years. It works easily. Everyone can participate. Participants were not required to take a voting test. Packer also called The Voice Company a voice store. Members participated in various projects. Ordinary people often learned the intricacies of sometimes complex pieces of music within ten weeks. They sang ABBA and Bach.

Teams from The Voice Company have traveled to New York three times. For example, in 2014, Packer was in that city with 65 choir members for a concert at Carnegie Hall. There they presented with singers from other countries. Later that year, The Voice Company collaborated to show De Nieuwe Wildernis at the Ziggo Dome.

In 2019, he set up a virtual singing project called Zin in Zingen. The participants sang their parts at home. People from Italy, Spain and the United States also joined. The basis of this project was laid in the Haarlem Adelbertuskerk, where the compositions were recorded.

Less well known is that in addition to being a choral conductor and pianist, Robert was also an excellent flute player and a very well deserved singer.
