On December 6, Nyck de Vries will compete in the IndyCar Series. The Dutchman is leading a test for Meyer Shank Racing this year and thus has found an association with the American racing class. The driver duo for 2022 is already occupied by the team, but there are opportunities to switch before 2023.

Earlier this year, De Vries took the Formula E world title and was briefly hoping to switch to Formula 1. However, the last free seat on the grid went to Guanyu Zhou. The fairy tale of the royal class seems to be over, but in the US there may still be a good future perspective for the Dutchman.

Vandoorne also runs tests at IndyCar

Stoffel Vandoorne, De Vries’ teammate in the electric racing class, will also test for the IndyCar team. The Belgian is also researching his options in the United States. They both have their own plans and won’t stand in the way of a switch.

De Vries has opportunities at Meyer Shank Racing with a focus on the drivers who drive now. Simon Pagenaud (37) and especially Helio Castroneves (46) have been in the racing class for some time. The latter could retire, although the team is also considering a third driver on the grid.
