On Friday, the service reported that the International Law Office had found violators through registry checks. During these checks, transfer data from the Land Registry and the database containing valid energy labels are compared to the Dutch Corporation Agency.

The fine imposed on individuals whose homes do not carry a valid energy card upon sale or delivery has increased sharply. Previously, the fine was 170 euros, and since this month it has become 435 euros. The fine for companies has been increased from €340 to €870, and the higher fines are a result of the new policy rule, which will come into effect on November 1.

Anyone selling a home must provide a valid energy label for the new owner at the time of sale and delivery. Since January 1 of this year, the energy consultant must come to the site to inspect the house in order to calculate and register the energy label. The Simplified Energy Label, in which remote evidence is evaluated, is no longer allowed as of this year.

The old fine amount was derived from the simplified identification card costs, but because the new energy card is more expensive, the fines were increased “to achieve a sufficient deterrent effect,” according to the ILT.
