New Collective Action Agreement Negotiations in Youth Welfare Stuck: ‘We Are Amazed’ | interior

Jeffrey Clark, October 27, 2021

FNV Zorg & Welzijn and CNV Zorg & Welzijn report that negotiations on a new collective labor agreement for youth welfare collapsed tonight. For months there have been negotiations between trade unions and Youth Care Netherlands over a new collective labor agreement for 32,000 employees in the sector.

According to FNV Zorg & Welzijn, municipalities will receive billions of euros from the government for youth welfare in the coming years, but “it seems that youth welfare employers don’t want to claim that”. “We are very disappointed and very astonished,” said Mike van der Ar, Director of FNV.

Unions have imposed a moderate 2% wage requirement for 2021, provided that a 5% wage increase is added next year. But it was rejected by employers.

Van der Ar: “Employers fear bankruptcy if they comply with our demand for wages and therefore do not receive any money from the municipality.”

According to the unions, action is inevitable. They will discuss this with their members.
