Kipster is expanding in the United States. Today, October 11, 2021, construction begins on four farms in Indiana. Capester eggs and meat should be on the shelves of US supermarket chain Kroger before Christmas in 2022.

Kroger sells eggs exclusively and will also include the corresponding meat of roosters and laying hens in its range. Kipster has entered into a multi-year contract with the supermarket chain for this purpose.

New Kipster Farms is being carried out by MPS Egg Farms. This family business acquired the rights to operate the concept in close cooperation with Kipster. The company’s history dates back to 1875, and is one of the ten largest egg producers in the United States.

The farms in America are copies of the Dutch Capester farms. No compromises were made for the rest of the concept either. For example, American chickens eat round feed, eggs are neutral to carbon dioxide, and animal care is at the highest possible level. In addition, the Kipster name and core brand values in the United States remain identical.

Kipster will begin to supply just under 30 million eggs on a yearly basis in America. The goal is to grow rapidly to over 100 million.

In 2017, Kipster opened its first farm in Oirlo-Venray. With the move to the United States, Kipster demonstrates that the company’s circular vision is relevant not only to the Netherlands, but also to the rest of the world. Director Mark Voss: “We see that a circular vision leads not only to climate returns, but also to the farmer, supermarket and consumer. The interest in our climate-neutral circular egg is so great that we have to make choices. We are now focused on achieving farms in the US and the EU. , but we’re also having serious conversations in other parts of the world.”

“We strive for a diet with as few animals as possible,” adds Rod Zanders, co-founder of Kipster. “A system in which animals do not pollute, but help remove residual fluxes that are released during food production. Our chickens upgrade discarded food into fertile eggs, meat, and dung.”

Professor Dr. ir. Imke de Boer, Wageningen University & Research: “We are pleased to see that Kipster is putting many aspects of our research into the animals’ contribution to a healthy and sustainable diet into practice. It is precisely this collaboration between scientists and farmers that has ensured that our vision” back to the roots of the Dutch food system: From more to better” has been named by the Rockefeller Foundation Top Visionary. Really cool!”
