As someone who has always struggled with insomnia, finding a solution to my sleeping disorder has always been one of my top priorities in life. At least, ever since I started suffering from it back when I was 14 years old.

When I was young, I pretty much had to deal with it because my parents didn’t want me to use sleeping pills, and later on I discovered that these types of drugs are solely for adults, so their worries were definitely justified, and I’m thankful to them. However, not being able to sleep for the longest time and being tired on a regular basis definitely made me suffer lots of health problems, mostly related to my mental health.

Depression, anxiety, regular drowsiness, lack of motivation, problems with productivity, and occasional muscle pain were some of the things I’ve been dealing with for quite some time, and once I became an adult and started living by myself, I occasionally tried to fix this problem.

Among the things that helped me, CBD was one of the options I encountered. However, making some changes to how I lived my life definitely helped me as well.

    Changes in My Lifestyle

The thing that showed the most results besides using CBD was changing my current lifestyle. Although it is true that my problem was deeper and more complicated than I initially thought, making some changes to how I engaged in my daily activities definitely improved things for me.

Some goods examples are how I stopped eating sugary food before sleeping or how I tried exercising occasionally to keep my body and mind exhausted to face the night. Check out cannabis dispensary near me. I also avoided taking naps throughout the day and stopped using electronic devices before sleeping. Reading and meditating helped me a lot as well!

And although I definitely sensed how I was getting better at dealing with my insomnia, there were occasions where I just couldn’t sleep, so over the years, I tried a lot of things. Among them, I would dare to say that both medicinal cannabis and CBD were the best things I could find in the market, even more, reliable than traditional sleeping drugs.

Medicinal Cannabis and CBD for Sleeping Disorders

THC from medicinal cannabis and CBD are pretty similar. They both are capable of providing a relaxing effect that can greatly aid you during your sleep, improving your sleep quality while making it easier to fall deep asleep

However, I ended up deciding to use CBD instead, just because it is a non-psychotropic alternative to medicinal cannabis, with the same health benefits as the plant. If you are interested in these benefits, you can check https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/16/style/self-care/cbd-oil-benefits.html for more detailed information.

    CBD as a Compound

CBD stands for cannabidiol, one of the compounds found in the cannabis plant, which is extracted from another species of the Cannabis plant known as Hemp and used to create products. CBD products are non-psychotropic since they contain low levels of THC just like the hemp plant.

Although there’s much to learn about it, it is used worldwide to deal with pain, inflammation, and insomnia, and it has been gaining a lot of popularity among people and pet owners, just because it is safe for animals as well.

There is a wide variety of methods to consume it and use it, but I personally prefer to use capsules. However, my mother does use another product, which is CBD oil.

The Products Available in the Market

I actually use 25mg CBD capsules, and they work perfectly for those days where I can’t seem to sleep no matter what. I use them before sleeping, around one hour to one hour and a half before going to be.

Reading after taking the capsule is the best way to go for me, but it is up to you how you decide how to use it. Besides capsules, you can find a wide variety of other products, from smokeable CBD strains to ingestible oils and even edibles.

Each one has its own advantages. Capsules, oils, and edibles, for example, tend to provide a much gentler effect that takes some time to kick in, perfect for insomnia. Smokeable flowers provide a much stronger and quicker reaction, perfect for people with pain and inflammation.

In fact, as showcased earlier, most people out there use CBD to deal with pain-inducing conditions or inflammatory diseases, and my mother is one of them.

    How My Mother Met CBD

Over the last couple of years, my mother has been struggling with knee pain caused by I injury she got when she was younger. Although she can manage it most of the time, there are occasions where the pain is barely bearable, and I recommended she use CBD as well.

Although our reasons are different, CBD definitely changed our lives for the better. She now has a way of dealing with her knee pain, and even recovers some of her mobility because the inflammation and pain are reduced. I tried to convince her to use smokeable strains in case the pain was too unbearable, but she didn’t like the idea of smoking so she just stuck with oil instead.

Oil tends to take from 10 to 15 minutes to kick in, just like capsules, but the effects usually last for hours, from 3 to 5 hours, which is enough for her to handle her day properly! And when it comes to fighting insomnia, it is more than enough for a great night of sleep.
