France failed to advance 3-1 in a European Championship match full of unexpected twists and turns on Monday night. Switzerland fought alongside the world champions (3-3) in the final ten minutes, after which it was followed by a goalless extension and penalty shootouts decided in Bucharest.
In this, the surprised Swiss showed themselves the coldest. Goalkeeper Jan Sommer stopped the effort of Kylian Mbappe, who was the tenth and last in acting and the only one to fail.
Back on the right track again
The match in the eighth final between France and Switzerland had an attractive opening stage, with the match ups and downs and Raphael Varane had already come close to a goal in the second minute. However, the French defender, taking a corner kick, fired too hard.
Then Haris Seferovic did better after fifteen minutes when Stephen Zuber sent in a cross from the left.
