Nomadland emerged as the biggest winner of the 74th BAFTAs Awards, the premier British Film Awards. The drama won four awards, including Best Picture and Best Director (Chloe Chow). Lead actress, Frances McDormand, won Best Actress.

Nomadland, a favorite with seven nominations, is about a widowed and unemployed woman who decides to take a truck ride across the United States. Along the way, she builds a relationship with other “Nomads”. Besides McDormand and actor David Strathairn, most of the other roles are played by people from the real traveler community.

Other films that won multiple awards on Sunday were Father, Soul, and Promising Young Woman. All three titles won twice. On Saturday, the winners in eight smaller categories have already been announced. Then Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom also took home two awards.

The father won, among other things, thanks to the lead actor Anthony Hopkins, who was allowed to choose the BAFTA for Best Actor.

The BAFTAs went for Best Supporting Actor and Actress to Daniel Kaluuya in Judah and Black Christ and Yoon Yeh Jung in Minari respectively. The Rising Star Award was presented to Bukky Bakray for her role in the movie Rocks.

Despite two nominations for the Bosnian film Quo Vadis, Aida? , in which many Dutch actors play, missed the awards. Druk, the Danish tragicomedy featuring Dutch production company Topkapi Films, received an award. The film won in the category of Best Film in a Language Other than English.
