Lemfgo has nothing to do with the brutal victory of Switzerland

Brian Rodriguez, June 3, 2021

20:26 Eindhoven goalkeeper Yvonne Mfugo was tonight for the fourth time in his career under the crossbar on behalf of the Swiss national team. However, he didn’t have to do much there. Only one save was needed to keep his goal clean as his teammates scored ahead. Liechtenstein was eventually defeated 7-0.

Switzerland is currently preparing for a difficult European Championship, but not an impossible group. Italy, Turkey and Wales are the opponents of the country that will take Mfugo to the tournament. The last four matches have been won (earlier this week, Switzerland beat the United States 2-1) and today the fifth match will follow. Switzerland joined Team B and saw the reserve players build up confidence.

At least that was the case for Mario Gavranovic. The Dinamo Zagreb striker scored the opening goal after 19 minutes – by the way, the only goal in the first half – and scored two more goals in the last 15 minutes to achieve a hat-trick. Young Boys midfielder, Christian Wassnacht, also managed to add two hits. Edmilson Fernandez (FSV Mainz) made one and Liechtenstein striker Noah Frick fired another into his own net.

Mfugo was also part of Team B, but he couldn’t and didn’t have to assert himself. With only one save, he made a small contribution to the win. By the way, there is a good chance that he will be satisfied with a role as a bench in the European Championship. Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Jan Sommer is usually the first choice under the bar.
