VET students in Utrecht want to jointly organize the WorldSkills The Netherlands program in the city in March 2022. During this Dutch tournament, around a thousand students from over fifty different professions are competing in (V) MBO for the title in their field.

Utrecht’s MBO jointly showed Bid Book to WorldSkills The Netherlands on Tuesday. The municipality wrote in a letter to the council: “With this book of giving, the business directors of Utrecht expressed their ambition and submitted a proposal to organize Worldskills The Netherlands in Utrecht in March 2022.”

According to the municipality, the organization of Worldskills The Netherlands will provide a “beautiful stage” for MBO students. In addition, Utrecht students are given the opportunity to contribute to the organization of the event. “Utrecht is putting itself on the map as a center for secondary vocational education this week.”

It remains to be seen whether WorldSkills The Netherlands will choose Utrecht. “We support MBOs in this desire and would like to welcome artisans, students and visitors to this wonderful event in our city in 2022. In the coming months, we will investigate, together with MBOs, how our support for this event is shaped.”
