FIFA / Coca-Cola World Ranking – news

Moses Yarborough, April 16, 2021

  • The United States reaffirms its dominance in the latest ranking
  • The Netherlands is France on the podium
  • The period of inactivity was extended from 18 to 48 months

The United States reasserted its dominance in the women’s competition in the final edition of the FIFA / Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking. Not only did they play more (seven matches) than any other team since the previous edition, but they were also unbeaten, recording the last result in 2013.

But while the team leading the standings remained unchanged, the podium was given a new look. France (fourth) lost its home ground to the United States in a friendly match on April 13th, and fell to fourth place. The Netherlands (third), which defeated Australia (5-0) on the same day, climbed to the podium by scoring a record (2038.61 points).

These teams weren’t the only drivers in the first matches. For their part, Brazil won (seventh), while Australia lost twice (ninth).

After defeating Ukraine (31) and qualifying for the upcoming European Women’s Championship, Northern Ireland (48) broke the 1500-point mark for the first time in its history. Nicaragua (118th) and Belarus (54th) had the next two best points (18.15 and 15.64, respectively).

The upcoming FIFA / Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will be published on 25 June.
