    Netherlands – Emmett Holler has resigned from the Netherlands municipality.

    A former Wing 3 representative made the move on Saturday, announcing his intention to run for Jefferson County 2 Commissioner.

    According to Netherlands city official, Chris Duque, according to state law, Holler automatically resigned from the council after the announcement; However, he will remain a member of the Municipal Council of the Netherlands until the vacancy is filled.

    The Netherlands City Council will not appoint a person to fill the vacant Ward III city council position; Instead, special elections are held.

    The special elections will be held on July 24.

    The special elections will be held on April 12, and the application period will be between April 12 and May 24.

    Section 3.02 of the City Code regulates the qualifications for employment in the municipality of the Netherlands:

    • Be a citizen of the United States of America and an eligible elector in Texas;
    • Before the election, they had lived for at least a year within the boundaries of the city project;
    • Have lived within the boundaries of the constituency they represent for at least one year prior to the date of the elections;
    • There are no debts to the city on taking office.
