At least 628 immigrant children who were separated from their parents at the Mexican-American border in 2017 and 2018 by ICE, the executive arm of the US Immigration Service, are still unable to be reunited with their parents because they cannot be found. According to CNN, the ACLU claims this in court documents.

The Trump administration’s policy of separating immigrant families seeking asylum and keeping children in large cages sparked a storm of anger in the United States and abroad in 2018.

The American Civil Liberties Union is taking legal action as part of a massive process of reuniting immigrant children with their parents. Of the 628 children who had not yet been able to do so, another family member was actually found in 168 of the children by a lawyer for the civil rights organization.

The documents show that the government will deliver a database containing addresses and contact details for the families. “We’ve been asking them for a long time to get all the extra leads they have,” a civil rights lawyer told CNN. After raising the issue in an election debate. We should have had this information long ago. At least a year ago.

In the spring of 2018, the United States began a policy of segregating immigrant families. After heavy criticism, the government decided to stop this practice after six weeks, except in cases where parents are “dangerous” to their children.

President-elect Joe Biden during one of his election debates with Donald Trump’s “criminal” policies. Biden promised to form a working group through presidential decree to reunite immigrant children with their parents as soon as possible.
