The Australian government announced that at the Australian Open, two players tested positive again for the Coronavirus. This brings the number of people participating in the first major tournament this year who tested positive to ten.

Victoria’s Minister Lisa Neville reports that a total of four new individuals who have participated in the tennis tournament have tested positive. “Among these four, there is at least one player who was in a state of strict lockdown, because he came on one of the trips with people who tested positive,” the minister said.

Meanwhile, we have mainly received pictures and messages from dissatisfied players and players in recent days. Up to 72 of them are currently in complete quarantine because they were on a plane that had tested positive for some passengers. But even those with a moderate regime – quarantine but with permission to train five hours a day – aren’t always happy with the Australian approach.

Belgian Elise Mertens is clearly thinking differently about this on Twitter: ‘Grateful to be back in Melbourne. Australia has a special place in my heart. But most of all is thanks to those who have worked hard and given too much to give us the opportunity to play.

Meanwhile, her teammates continue to prepare as much as possible for the first date of the season. And this is often in the room.
