A male in Missouri was arrested just after making an attempt to escape from police by floating down a river to flee a visitors stop on Friday, according to officials.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office mentioned on Facebook the incident unfolded about 8:30 a.m. when the 38-12 months-aged male tried to escape from police by floating down the Bourbeuse River.
The incident occurred near the town of Union, positioned about 50 miles west of St. Louis.
Maj. Trevor Wild, of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, instructed the St. Louis Put up-Dispatch the man drove by a hayfield and ditched his auto Friday morning right before he attempted to swim down the river.
Officers reported the 38-year-old was at first stopped for driving devoid of a license and failing to produce to law enforcement.
The man was noticed in the river at 8:30 a.m. in the location of Shawneetown Ford Road in Union, carrying a blue mechanics’ variety button-up shirt.
Officials reported the person came out of the river and was caught by 1:30 p.m., five hours later on.
Wild instructed the Post-Dispatch law enforcement arrested him but the 38-calendar year-outdated was later produced.
The man’s identity was not launched.
Wild said though it is definitely not normal, this is not the initial time a person has tried to escape by floating down a river. He said it has happened various moments prior to.
