When Kevin Magnussen debuted in Formula 1 with McLaren in 2014, he thought he would fight for victories and championships, but it quickly turns out that he was extremely ambitious, but he didn’t regret the time he spent at McLaren.

Sergio Perez led the way to McLaren in 2013, but was sent off after one season and forced to make way for new Formula Renault 3.5 champion Kevin Magnussen. The 2013 McLaren was disastrous, with no wins or crowning places, but with the new V6 engines, the team had been hoping to claim their first world title since 2008. The Magnuson and Boon had a good start with P2 and P3 in Australia. “At the time I really thought I was going to fight for the world title,” Magnussen looked back.

But things quickly collapsed. After the success in Melbourne, the team fell, the drivers were no longer on the podium and the team only finished fifth in the constructors’ champion. However, Magnussen seemed confident from another year at McLaren until Fernando Alonso announced his departure from Ferrari, thus McLaren was sidelined and became McLaren’s test and reserve driver. Of course, the Dane was disappointed with this decision, but he does not bear a grudge.

“I am grateful to McLaren for the opportunity they gave me. I thought I would drive my Force India in 2014, but at the last minute it turned out to be a McLaren. Of course you could say after that I could have done things differently, but I ended up in Formula 1. People couldn’t say that.So I can’t really complain, ‘Magnussen said.
