The US Cybersecurity Agency (CISA) has reported that the recent major US government cyber attack has also hit individual states and local governments in the US.

Hackers were able to break into a formidable computer by hijacking SolarWinds’ security software to breach the federal government network. CISA said in a statement posted on its website that the breach “affected networks within the federal government, individual states and local governments, as well as critical infrastructure and business organizations.”

The agency said last week that U.S. government agencies and critical infrastructure were affected, but did not mention individual states or local governments at the time. CISA did not immediately respond to requests for more detailed information.

The intelligence informed the parliamentarians, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Justice Secretary Bill Barr all said Russia was behind the attack. However, some officials feel it is too early to confirm who carried out the cyber attack.

Future US President Joe Biden has said that the people behind the cyber attacks will face severe sanctions. Our opponents need to know that as president, I will not stand idly by and watch the cyber attacks on our nation.
