VANCOUVER – British Columbia’s chief medical officer will be giving a live briefing on COVID-19 Thursday, setting out the number of new cases of the disease that have been recorded in the past 24 hours.

Dr Bonnie Henry will also reveal if there have been any other deaths or outbreaks.

CTV News Vancouver.KA broadcasts this conference live @ 3pm

The latest update to COVID-19, which came in a written statement, revealed that 640 people have been infected with the disease. 24 people have died.

Officials also announced a new outbreak of COVID-19 in the county health care system, this time at the Seniors’ Home in the Sunrise of Vancouver.

In their written statement, Henry and Health Secretary Adrian Dix urged people to continue doing their part to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“Lots of people have already pledged to make their holidays safe – by staying young and communicating virtually instead,” they said.

“There are countless creative ways for us to obtain those important connections as well as protect our communities and the people we care about most. Let’s keep doing our part and break the transmission chain in British Columbia.”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

    correction:

A previous headline said that COVID-19 data will be released for three days. In fact, only the 24 hour period will be covered in the briefing on Thursday afternoon.
