Sheppey East has the highest Covid-19 cases in the country as Swale has the second worst infection rate

The numbers revealed that a wing in Kent has the largest number of Covid-19 cases in the country.

Sheppey East is part of Swale that has been hit hard by the Coronavirus in the past few weeks.

According to government figures, the borough has the second highest infection rate in England, and the district ward has recorded 162 positive cases.

Minster South, Iwade, and Kemsley are also among the top ten in terms of the number of positive cases between November 8 and November 14, with the former recording 108 cases and the latter 110.

Borden and Meads were among the 13 largest cases recorded in the country with 103.

Swale Borough reported 957 new cases with the incidence rate per 100,000 people rising from 296.5 to 637.7.

It had the largest weekly jump in rates, followed by the other Kent region which rose from 365.5 to 517.9 while there were 735 new cases recorded.

It is now second in the top ten with the highest rates of Covid-19 infection.

Earlier in the day, Gordon Henderson, a member of parliament for Sittingburn and Shebe, said the areas most affected by the virus in Kent were those with “severely deprived areas.”

Earlier this week, a Swale Council leader warned residents not to face a lockdown over Christmas if neighborhood rates cannot be contained.

Last month, Sheppey East city councilor, Padmini Nisanga, said residents on the island were dealing with the virus “as a joke.”

Schools across the province have already been forced to close due to the high number of cases.
