Right; Both have the first name Sergey, written in exactly the same way. This is Ryzhikov’s second time on the space station and the first for Kud-Sverchkov. It is the first spacewalk for both astronauts.

Are you worried about the two astronauts telling each other? Ryzhikov, the current commander of Expedition 64, will wear a Russian Orlan space suit with red stripes while Kud-Sverchkov will wear a space suit with blue stripes as a crew member of Module 2.

Ryzhikov EV1 and Kud-Sverchkov will be designated EV2 – which is less confusing than it was when they were referred to as “Sergey 1” and “Sergey 2” during a press conference aboard the space station in October.

Kate Robins, a NASA astronaut who set off with astronauts in October from Kazakhstan, will help men control and monitor their progress during a spacewalk.

Live spacewalk coverage, which begins at 9:30 a.m. ET, will be broadcast on the NASA website. The space walk is expected to last about six hours.

This is the forty-seventh Russian space walk that contributes to the assembly and maintenance of the station, and the 232nd and eighth public space walk this year.

First, astronauts will check the hatch for any leaks outside the Russian Poisk module as it will be used as an airlock once the new module arrives.

The new Russian multi-purpose laboratory unit, named “Nauka” which means “science” in Russian, will replace the Russian Pirs unit. Pierce will be removed from service, disconnected, and disposed of in the future.

Nauka will be launched next year from Kazakhstan. In the meantime, several spacewalks will be required to move assets from Pirs and Zarya’s unit to prepare for Nauka’s arrival in April 2021.

“We welcome any and all units, especially if they have storage space,” Robins said in October.

    Then there were 7

The NASA SpaceX Crew-1 flight docked at the space station on Tuesday, bringing the station’s total astronauts to seven (plus one baby from Baby Yoda serving the critical mission as the Zero Gravity Indicator).

The zero gravity indicators, which are usually gentle games, inform the crew when they are in space after launch. Once the game starts to float, they know they’re in space.

Yuri, a young astronaut coordinator Olga, wife of Kudd Svereshkov, accompanied them during their October launch. Each crew must choose their own indicator, according to NASA.

A member of the Expedition 64 crew member Sergey Kod Svershkov carries a knit astronaut named Yuri, who was made by his wife Olga.

Crew-1 carried NASA astronauts Victor Glover Jr., Michael Hopkins, Shannon Walker, and Japanese Soishi Noguchi to the space station for six months.

NASA’s Commercial Crew program could expand the number of astronauts on the space station – which means more science, and even new types of experiments, can happen in the unique microgravity environment.

The seven crew members held a welcoming ceremony on Tuesday.

It is a historic moment for the space station. This will be the first long-term crew, including seven members, in 20 years of the space station. November 2nd celebrated the 20th anniversary of the continuous human presence on the space station.

Previously, the space station hosted up to 13 people, but only for a few days when their crews came and went.
