Major League Baseball announced that Thursday’s second game in the NL Wild Card series between the Marlins at Cubs has been postponed and rescheduled for Friday. Originally scheduled for 2:08 PM ET, the game was postponed due to rainy weather in Chicago. The weather report doesn’t show a lot of torrential rain, but the chance of rain is roughly 50 percent throughout most of the day and night, so guesswork is MLB doesn’t want to deal with starting and stopping too much – especially after seeing how the Yankees’ win in Cleveland unfolded on Wednesday night / morning Thursday.

In qualifiers, weather decisions are made by Major League Baseball up to the first court, and then the ruling team makes the calls.

Friday’s match will be at 2:08 PM ET, which is 1:08 PM local time in Chicago.

Here are some things to know about procrastination.

The second game beginners will not change

The Cubs have U Darfish ready to go in the second match. He has been one of the best shooters in baseball this season. Five of his eight victories this season came from losses for the Youngsters. The game was called up early enough that it didn’t overheat, so it would stay at the start.

Likewise for Marlins with Sixto Sanchez. There’s no reason to change plans, considering he was not ready to bid on Thursday.

    Marty’s status could change

Marlins suffered a blow in Game 1 when Starling Marty He broke his hand. He was not in the Game 2 squad, and manager Don Mattingly told reporters he was available to tabletop and possibly play in defense, but without hitting. Reports indicate Marte will try to play by hitting two goals sometime in the near future. Maybe make him the extra day in Game 2 squad.

Beginners can run in the first game in Game 3

We’ve all seen reliance on entry-level shooters who work comfortably in supplement matches over the past few years. It doesn’t look like it would really be possible in a three-game series to open the playoffs, but with a day off, that might happen in that series, if Cubs wins Game 2 and imposes a third match.

Kyle Hendrix has thrown 106 throws and that’s not a ton to him. In a normal archer routine, Saturday will be a side session for him. It is possible at some point that Director David Ross will decide to hire Hendrix on a two-day break if the situation calls for it. Or he can just hope to grab a win and Hendrix be very comfortable ready to go to the first game from NLDS.

Likewise with Sandy Alcantara, who had few problems with Cubs’ bats in Game 1, allowing only one run over three hits in 6 2/3 innings. Making him available for relief duty in Game 3 might be very tempting for Don Mattingly, once again, in case things get to in Game 3.
