Louis Vuitton wants its costumers to grace the virus.

The fashion house is launching a premium LV-printed plastic face shield for those who have $ 961 to show off their premium PPE.

The costumes designed to combat the Coronavirus to reduce exposure to potential pollutants are made of hard plastic that capsizes like eyebrows, and is decorated with a flexible, low-voltage headband.

The shield will also go from dark to light depending on brightness.

It didn’t take long for face masks and personal protective equipment to become a fashion icon and status symbol when the virus spread in March. LV is just one of the newest designers to take PPE and make it luxurious.

Italian label Fendi sells an anti-pollution face mask that stars like Bella Hadid have worn, while Gucci debuted with a similar monogram print of its own. Burberry said in August it would start selling $ 120 face masks in its plaid pattern, and donated 20 per cent to coronavirus relief.

Meanwhile, a $ 5,000 gold face mask was manufactured for a man in India.

Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Armani and a number of designers such as Christian Siriano started manufacturing PPE early in the pandemic in March and April amid shortages nationwide.

While face masks provide a safe way to curb the potential spread of COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says regarding face shields that “their effectiveness is unknown at this time.”

LV face shields will go on sale on October 30 at select retail brands as part of the French fashion house’s Cruise 2021 collection.
