We sympathize with the athletes who had to wait two years for the final results of their competitions.” On the other hand, the Russian Olympic Committee announced on Tuesday that it would appeal against the decision to review the final classification.

Valeeva tested positive in December 2021 during the Russian National Championships when she was fifteen years old. But the result was not announced until February 8, 2022, the day after she won the Nations Cup with the Russian national team. The medal presentation in the team competition was canceled due to this issue.
Russia's anti-doping agency Rusada stated after the Games that Valeeva had committed a crime for which she was “not responsible”.
